Like many small start up companies Happy House started as a small dream.

I just wanted to design products that generally made people feel happy. I had been involved in the fashion industry for a few years but personally for me this was not ‘doing it for me’ at least not in the corporate world of the eighties!

By the 90’s I was fusing my love of illustration and designing product and in ‘95’ I ventured out on my own with a small folio in hand and started knocking on the doors of shops to see if they would like to buy my oversized gift tags. They were a hit and after a year of handpainting every order my partner David and I took the plunge, put our savings on the line and ventured in to the world of small business. The next few years where a whirlwind, we expanded our range every 6 months, moved premises from a bedroom to a warehouse, grew our staff and ventured off shore with our product ranges.

Our goal was simple, world domination! Well not quite, but it was close, it was just about using our same philosophy and love for fun, happy innovative product and letting it grow into new cultures where it seemed to fit. And so Happy House grew into a brand, not with out hard work, determination, blood sweat and tears as they say and loads of amazing talent in the way of staff and fellow business partnerships, lastly passion and a constant drive to create inspiring design.

Together Dave and I experimented growing the brand through new avenues venturing into licensing and retailing, and over the years we have seen Happy House sell in over 40 countries. From Korea to Mexico, Hong Kong to Greece and still today new countries add to the list and join in the fun. Happy House products up to now have included, fashion, bed linen, gift, bags and accessories, soft toys, stationery, books, food and party products. Its hard to imagine it all unfolded the way it did but it like many new businesses, we took many turns and some very big dives of steep cliffs but it has been an amazing journey, one which I never stopped loving.

Based in Adelaide South Australia, I feel like one of the luckiest girls alive, the colour of our country, the beautiful blue skies, the amazing clean beaches, the beautiful happy people are a constant source of inspiration and my family ( two girls, perfect critics!) help to keep the creative dream of Happy House alive. I hope that I can just continue to create fun artwork and products that may make your day a happier one in some small way!
